HP psc 1317 printer

I have a HP1317 psc 1317 3-in-1 printer. It is about 18 months old and is a good little machine. Or it was a good machine.

I am getting an error message - "print cartridge error" showing up on my monitor and a big E on the printer.

I have done the obvious stuff. Cleaned the connections and even changed the cartridges from not legit HP ones to the real HP cartridges.

Still nothing happened.

I have tried rebooting the computer and printer.

Is there anything else that I can do? I can get a cheap printer in town but I have a couple of genuine colour cartridges for the HP and as the cost about �20 I would rather get my money's worth.

Help. What are my options?

Have you tried re-installing the printer...updated the drivers.

Are there any lights blinking on the side panel...i've had this with a paper jam.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software - sometimes this solves problems for some reason.

Still not working.

There is a flashing light, but no paper jam.

Anybody any ideas?

Sorry wolf...no idea then...i have the psc 1402 and have had quite a few problems with it printing...i get messages saying empty cartridge when they're full :(

I ended up buying a new black cartridge and it is working again.

I was using Jettec cartridges - it must be naff.

I have kept the link you gave me in my favourites. Being without a printer was not nice.

Good to know Susan...actually i'm using compatibles as well...maybe that's why i'm getting similar problems.

I'll get the HP ones next time :)
