2.0 Petrol or 1.6 diesel???

IN process of looking for a brand new car and seen two MPVS, with different specs. What is the most economical car to run? A 2.0 litre petrol Renault Grande Megane or a 1.6 Diesel Cirtroen 7 seater C4? Will i get more mileage from the Diesel in the long run, even thought diesel is more expensive to buy? thanks in advance to all who answer.

The Citroen will of course be more economical but with 7 seats and a 1.6 diesel it will also be incredibly slow.

thanks for your info, we were told that the 1.6 diesel has a 110 bhp... wil this make the car not so incredibly slow by having this as you said it will be slow..

Perhaps I was going over the top, it will keep up with the traffic today and the deisel if serviced properly will give you much better mpg and will overall be more economical than the petrol.
