Can I cut a letterbox in a UPVC door or will it weaken the structure?

If I can, how will I stop the edges splitting?

Just asked Hubby about your question. If the panel is reinforced, it will either be reinforced with three quarter inch ply, or a metal sheet.
Just cut through it making sure that you cut a smaller opening than the letterbox framework.
As for the structure, it will not weaken it to any worrying degree. The edges will not split either.
