Combination Microwave
11 Answers
I have just brought one of these and i am a bit baffled as to what i can use when i use the oven function, can i use metal trays and cake tins as you are not allowed to use them in a normal microwave and do i have to use the supplied rack or do i just use that when i use the grill function as i have only used a normal microwave in the past.
I have just got this brilliant machine but cannot use it to its true potential because basically i haven't got a clue, any advise or point in the direction of a good website would be gratefully appreciated..........

Peanut these machines are brilliant. I have long had one, am actually on my 3rd machine. Use only the metal dishes they give you (hopefully you have them). If you cant get instructions quickly then you will just have to fiddle around and experiment with the controls. An up to date one will prompt you on the display.
E.g. on mine, press combi, it may ask if you want convection or grill, press your choice, then it asks what micro power to go with it, then set time. It's really quite simple just remember not to cook on high temp and full power together for long or you will end up with leather or charcol.

I can use mine on combi (grill 1 and microwave low) to do baked potatoes. The book gave these settings and recommends using the metal grill tray. The results are superb and I have never seen the 'electrical storms' other people seem to have. I don't think I would risk any metal containers above the low or minimum setting.
