purchasing a mortgage on D.L.A????

Hi,please could somebody let me know if it would be possible for my mother to purchase a small mortgage on disabilityliving allowance? she has been offered her council house and I would love for her to have something for herself after everything she has been through.
Any advice would be greatfully appreciated!
