my electric has just gone off - no power whatsoever ive rang norweb and its not a power-cut, we arfe on the old fuse box system and have checked all fuses which are fine anybody know what it may be? thanks

Before it gets too late, check whether the lights are on in your neighbours houses (especially every third house along). It might be that one of the three phases has gone down from the substation. If so, this will result in every third dwelling being without power.

Alternatively your company fuse (normally 80A) may have fused for some reason.

we checked down the road but it looked like some had power, when i rang norweb the guy said he had not been informed of a power cut in our area, but mayve they are not told straight away.

If a phase goes down from a substation - the electric company will only know if someone tells them. You might be the first to have informed the electric co.

We had to get norweb out this morning, they are saying that no electric is getting into the house from outside and they will have to send someone else round to have a look - hope this means the problem lies with them and not us.
