I have a Potterton Statesman flowsure plus oil fired boiler, unfortunately I let it run out of oil on monday, after having my oil tank filled today the boiler still won't start up and the lock out light remains on, I have tried resetting it and it makes noises like it is going to light up but then just locks out again. I'm not sure if this is due to an airlock or something else, and help would be greatly appreciated as I am freezing and desperately in need of a shower

Sounds very much like an airlock. An engineer would eitherloosen the jet fitting and let air out, alternatively there may be a bleed screw to achieve the same result. If so it will be on the oil pump .
