Has anyone tried one of those brick maker gadgets (for want of a better word) where you soak newspaper, then press it into the brick maker, and let the brick dry out?
The idea being to use up unwanted newspaper and save on fuel bills.
Nearly 50 years ago(!), my father looked into getting one of these devices. He asked around his friends and read some press reviews. He found out that most people said that the bricks took ages to dry out, and then didn't burn very well anyway.
We were given one of these many years ago, as a present, but never used it. Mr C thinks it is too much hassle for too little result. I want to give it a go, so perhaps we will one day.
It's a bit academic actually, as we don't have an open fire at the moment, but we are hoping to move back to a house with an open fire (we miss our open fire).
