My pieris is in a nice shaded, well protected corner. This is the first year it has looked AWEFUL! I've given it fertilizer and added peat moss and soil around the roots but the new growth is coming out all twisted and contorted with brown edges. can anyone out there help me?!?!

As you know, a Pieris needs an acid soil. If its not in a pot, and your soil isnt particularly acidic, feed it with an ericaceous liquid feed (as for azaleas, camellias etc). It may well be that it got too dry at some time, either this or last year, but it does sound as if it got hit by some frost - there were some unexpected ones where we are in mid-May. So, TLC!
