Decorating nightmare!
3 Answers
Help!! Our living room is a deep red and I painted it with Once Ivory Lace last night. This morning it's like a bleak artic landscape and for some reason, the red has turned blue underneath and is showing through. Any suggestions for a paint and colour that will rectify it? I want a matt sort of Morrocan feel. Maybe a warmer cramy yellow that will complement the dark red - not magnolia or cream. Don't want another DIY disaster on my hands tonight!

Although you don't have to do this with a lot of paints, if you have a very dark colour that you need to paint over, it is better to use an undercoat first so that the darker colour won't shine through. On the Crown (paint) website: http://www.crownpaint.co.uk/expcolour/create/ you can use a picture of the room you want to decorate or choose from the selection of rooms they have and then apply different colours of paint online to the walls, ceilings etc to see if you like the effect.
I see what you mean about the Ivory Lace looking a bit cold - I've got some decorating to do so my colour charts were handy. I really don't know which colour to recommend but I think I would go & get some matchpots to save all that work being wasted. I hate nothing more than having to do a job twice (or more!). And I'd agree with the others about using white matt as a base.
