Bottle Garden

I was given a bottle garden in a large round bottle for my 70th birthday, seven years ago, but sdaly ity is now a wreck.. old, like me!
However as it was a present from a favourite cousin, sadly now dead, I would like to replant it.
Ideas as to how and with what would be gratefully received.
