Its your tast , whatever you like! Baby won't notice as so many have pointed out.
The thing is your baby won't and does not need these things. What your baby will need is a lot, huge amount of things as it gets at the asking mode. When its a teenager thats when the real expense kicks in.
I wouldn't let the baby sleep in the room till the paint fumes have gone. Thats just me.
