three piece suite

I purchased a leather three piece from leather leaders 18 months ago the three piece is really nice, i gave 2,500 for it, it is an oatmeal colour and has kept very well but last week i thought i would clean it, i only rubbed the chair lightly with a damp cloth only used water no cleaning liquids and the colour has dramatically changed to a cream/white colour as i saw it chaning colour i stopped so now i have a patch on the seat of it, please could you let me know if there is any point contacting leather leaders as i have had the suite for 18 months, i am afraid to wipe the rest of the suite. thanks

Yes, contact them.

It is reasonable to expect a leather suite to be wiped clean, or even heavily wiped at times.
It is also reasonable to expect a leather suite to be colour fast and to last more than 18 months

There is an implied condition following the Sale of Goods Act that your three piece suit should be of a satisfactory quality and that it should be fit for purposes for which it should reasonabley be used. Cleaning and upkeep will more than likely be deemed so reasonable hence you should have the basis of a claim.

Thanks for all you advice, i got in touch with leather leaders and they told me they would get in touch with the manufacturer which is in belgium and they would get back to me in 10 days, i will let you know what happens, thanks again.

leather leaders have been back in touch with me and say that the three piece has to go back to belgium to be inspected why they cant inspect it here i dont know when you think of the cost of taking back to belgium, they are comming to collect it on friday and loan me another suite could i ask them for some sort of guarantee that it wont happen again as if it does they wont want to know next time thanks

I found a company online (Spotlessleather.com) and they have an Online cleaning service. Just pick the style of jacket and it will tell you what the cost is to not only clean it but to actually restore it to a like new condition. I have used them and they are very nice priced way below what you would think and it gets delivered right to your door. Check them out!
