can the roots of an ivy bush cause problems to buildings, only I have a bush growing over my front door, and was worried what the roots were doing.

Which do you have Jasmin or Ivy? Niether will do harm provided they are not up against the wall, even then they should be ok. Ivy can root into cracks in an old wall as it grows and could eventually cause damage, so keep it under control.
