Virginia Creeper

Can anyone help with a solution to get rid of the marks left behind by a Virginia Creeper on window frames, soffit boards and guttering? I realise elbow grease and hot soapy water might do but considering the inaccesibility of the areas I was hoping for something magical.

I often get asked to empty gutters and clean fascias...I have always found a cream cleaner like Cif does the trick.

A wallpaper scraper works quite well.

Thank you to both respondents, I will now use both methods, a scraper to get rid of the majority and the Cif (oh how I wish they had not changed the name!!) to clean of the residue.

You might need to use a fine grade sandpaper on tough bits and touch up some paintwork, check theres no damage to soffits as some of these climbers can damage timber.

Thank youi weeal, I realise that these climbers, whilst very decorative for a few weeks can be a pain the proverbial, and that they do get into every nook and cranny. Each year I trim the leading edge to within two feet of any soffit, window etc. to ensure that it does not become too invasive. I would personally trim it to within one inch of the ground, and keep it at that level, but I am under orders from "she who must be obeyed" to keep it.

I must admit, they really brighten up a house in the `fall` but you must be diligent and keep them under control
