They get hot
nothing happens

If by 'ordinary' you mean aluminium, then no they don't.

Notrhing happens, they just remain on the hob as you placed them.

You must use pans with a magnetic base for them to work, i.e. if you place a magnet on the base it will stick to the pan.

The pans are not magnetic as such. They have to be made of a ferrous material (so, yes, it is true that a magnet will stick to them).
I have an induction hob and can tell you absolutely nothing will happen, There will be NO heat what so ever.
