I am thinking of buying a piece of furniture on eBay to give as a present to someone in Nottingham. The item is in Grantham, Lincolnshire and it will be some weeks before I can collect but the seller wants the item collected quickly - it would fit into any estate car or ((just) even such vehicles as a Golf. Does anyone know of a cheap van service in that area ? I don't want to buy if the transportation is going to be as or more expensive than the item itself. Second question: Is there a better place to post this than here ?

hire vehicle local to you, more chance of securing a good price.
Delivery companies advertise on Ebay.Just put Delivery in the search box and they will come up.
I haven't done that myself but I did sell a chest to someone in Spain and they arranged for a Colchester company called Mailboxes Etc. to collect it from here, they may have branches elsewhere.

You need to enter Furniture Delivery for Ebay otherwise you get parcel delivery.

Thanks but, both those responding seem to assume the delivery address is my own - it is not, far from it. Hiring a vehicle is far too expensive for me at a distance, plus I could do the move with my own vehicle anyway (but will not be there to do it until a month after close of auction). If I am not mistaken, the eBay search system (for delivery) can only be done by entering your own details - I don't want the item brought to me.
