fruit flies

Can anyone tell me please how to get rid of fruit flies - they have been driving me for the past few months. I have removed all food from the tops in my kitchen, sprayed and even, as someone suggested put alcohol in a glass - this does attract them but its not curing the problem. Also I cannot find where they are coming from. Any help would be appreciated.

I have had this problem. I had a plant in my kitchen & kept seeing these blessed little tiny flies. I went onto tipking.com a great site if you have never been on there. Lots of hints & tips. I have been told citranela , sorry wrong spelling, is good as the flies do not like the smell.
