No matter how many times i try to work this out i fail, HELP, just trying to work out the cost of gas i have used up till now, units used: 452, calorific: 39.3. my last bill was: 266 units, that worked out as [email protected] (kWh @ p) = £122.93. thanks anyone.
You need to work out the relationship between units and kWh. This can be done from what you know from the previous bill, divide 2970 (kWh) by 266 (units) = 11.165.
Use this to turn your new units figure into kWh, 452 (units) x 11.165 = 5046.58 kWh.
My previous answer assumes a flat rate per unit (4.139p) and no standing charge. It may be that you pay xpence for the 1st so many units or kWh and then ypence above that. Just split it up proportionately if that is the case; you have the important ratio - each unit used = 11.165 kWh.
Thankyou LCDMAN for your very good answer, i understand now and yes there is the standing charge in the form off 88days @13.670= £12.03 on my last bill. thanks again.
Yes that works well, just keeping an eye on things and it seems the boiler is doing quite well considering the amount of time its been on this winter, also i fitted a shower off the boiler three months ago that we use four times a day so just wanted to see and compare with the electric shower that we did have. thanks again for your help, will print this off so i don't forget the working out.
