Cleaning the decking

I have some decking with a pergola in the corner of the garden and over this winter it seems to have got some sort of lichen on the handrail and floor. I have tried washing with a bleach solution which got some of it off, but the rest is sticking like glue. I want to stain the wood before summer and wondered if any of you had an idea of how to clean it off.

Thanks"!

It will come off if you put a powerwasher to it. Hire one for the day.

Thanks! We have got a power washer, so will give it a go. Bit cold at the moment though!!
..... then let it dry thoroughly before painting. It is seriously the best way on an outdoor, unevenly shaped article
