Protex wallcovering

Our house is a woodenframe construction finished with roughcast. Showing signs of seepage and moss. We have had a quote from a company called Protex for their sealant . Has anyone heard of this treatment? It is meant to last 25 years+ with no future paintingrequired. Quite expensive.

Plenty of pictures of buildings done in the stuff but a remarkable absence of any technical information. Often these sorts of buildings products have certification from the Agrements Board to show they have been independently tested. This one appears not to have.
The blurb appears to say that the weatherproof resin that it is made from stops moisture ingress from the outside yet allows the fabric to breathe. Yet it doesn't say how that is possible (I'm not saying it isn't possible - Goretex fabric does a similar thing). This is absolutely critical for your timberframe.
The guarantee is 10 years according to the website - not 25 years. Ask how is underwriting the guarantee - the company or an insurance-backed warranty. Should be the latter. Ask to see a specimen policy to find out exactly what it covers (and doesn't).
The product can also be spread over roofs.
None of this sounds like a good idea to me.

I have since had a look at a house that has been done and dont like the look of it. Very thick coating, dull looking and with some flaking. Not going ahead with it.
