no its not, people use it for other things too....
I've only ever used it for cleaning saddles and bridles.Think I may have used it to clean the leather on horse brasses too.
I must have led a very sheltered existence then - sorry suzie - I only ever used it to clean my saddles in the tack room

Well. i bought some today to clean my cream leather sofas.
I bought a raw leather belt strap that I had to cut, dye and polish and I used saddle soap a few times during the process.
I use it regularly to remove built up polish on my shoes before repolishing... works great. Of course we keep it around here on our ranch in the western U.S. for its namesake...
It's mainly use for cleaning, conditioning and softening leather.
If shoes rub at heel, work saddle soap into leather.
