I have several miniature conifers underneath a window, which have now reached the window sills. How can I trim them down slightly, without the tops of them going brown and while keeping them looking natural? Thanks.

you should trim them late september then they wont go brown at all..you could also clip them into shape at this time,,,they wont grow much between now and september so i would just leave them,,if you are desperate to cut the tops off do it in march before we hopefully get some warm weather,,its only if you do it may to august you run the risk of them frizzling in the sun,,
wispy68   the above answer is if you live in the uk..if you lived somewhere hot and exotic then you would have to do it in your rainy season..
