It is a rubbery smell, or smoke?
It's early days tamirra, but if it continues I would see my GP for advice. It's probably not a worrying sign in itself.
Have you any other symptoms other than this strange new smell?
Question Author
No i wouldn`t say it was a rubber or smoke smell, its just a wierd smell nothing ive smelt before. Why did you say its early days, what you thinking it could be?
Question Author
Ive noticed if i sniff hard the smell gets stronger, whats wrong with me?
All I meant was if it's only been happening a few days, it's probably too early to consult a GP. But if it continues, say for a few more weeks, then make an appointment. There could be a variety of causes, most of which will go away on their own given time.
Have you looked at the soles of your shoes?

I said sensible only, thats just silly.
Is there any possibility you are pregnant?
Question Author
No, had a hysterectomy 18 yrs ago. x
Have you got any teeth problems or catarrh. Smell is often associated with taste?
Have you eaten any Garlic? I can smell on myself after eating it.
I think Lotty might be right. I could be either, or probably an infection in your sinuses.
Question Author
Not as far as im aware, ive just been to the dentist after breaking a tooth but thats now ok, i do grind my teeth badly at night, but other than that nothing i can think off.
You most likely have a postnasal drip and the accumulating mucus has started to smell. See your GP for antibiotics in case of infection.
Question Author
What is that daffy, how have i got this? my nose dosnt run, its quite normal other than being blocked in the mornings.
There are many reason for a postnasal drip. At this time of year I would say the most likely is allergies/hayfever.
Blocked in the morning tamira? Suggests the smell is related to your sinuses in some way then. Could well be an allergy of some sort.
Question Author
Oh daffy thanks for your post, i do suffer with hayfever so shall i just leave it to clear, someone earlier saiddid it smell like gas, i can honestly say yes it does now, as i couldnt pin point it, but i think it is a gas smell, so could it still be post nasel drip?
By the way tamirra, a postnasal drip doesn't necessarily mean a runny nose as the mucus actually drips down the back of the nose into the throat.

I'm sure if sqad sees this question he can give better advice as this is his field of expertise.
It could definitely still be postnasal drip tamirra. A trip to your GP seems the best bet though as they can advise the best treatment.

ok daffy thank you, i do hope he comes on as im quite worried i have smelly breath and nobody will tell me, and that would be nasty in itself.
