Tiling quotes?
6 Answers
Ive asked a local firm to quote me a price for tiling roughly 10 square metres of floor(Bathroom and Kitchen). I am supplying all the natural slate tiles, preping the area, toilet and sink, and see no great hurdles as far as difficult angles. The price i have been given is 500! Iss this over priced? Should i just do it my self and hire a cutter?

It's not difficult to DIY it - not the easieast things to cut but I have done it rather haphazzardly with an angle gringer - wearing goggles, gloves & mask of course. Buy a few spare slates and it's easy.
a word of advise, if you have no experience of tiling, and are attempting your first job using slate forget it, leave it to a pro, you say your tiling ten mtrs of floor in two differrent rooms that = a lot of cutting work, cutting slate is a slow messy process not like cutting ceramics, you'll proberbly end up with a very large headache and a less than pro finish, if you finish!, 500 is not a bad price for slate to be laid in two confined area's, go and get more quotes id be suprised if you got a much better price from a skilled tiler
