Can anyone please tell me the easiest and best way to paint the end sections of my cupboards (not wood) to match new kitchen cupboard doors. Do I need to use a primer and what type of paint is the best.

If the ends of your units are not wood, they're probabaly laminated. You could 'google' & ask 'how to paint laminate'? There may be some tips on there for you. Good luck.
Other than that, I would give the surface a scrub, then apply an undercoat, then top coat. I can't see that you'd need a primer as that's usually for bare wood - but no doubt a decorator on here will say otherwise.

Ronseal do a range of specialised paints. (I've never tried doing kitchen cupboards but I'm thinking about it. I'm very good at thinking about diy!)
