Just lately an ice cream van has been parking down our road for about 40 mins in the afternoon everyday, as we live in a road with a primary school and he is getting alot of trade, he parks were ever he can get a space which is usually around my house and my 2 neighbours, when he has gone we have huge puddles of oil or diesel on the road and it runs to the gutter, my self and my neighbour have been putting sand over it as its where we park our cars when not at work, my neighbour did have a word with him but he said he is new and it must have been the other driver, when he left he to has left large puddles.
Is there anyone we can contact about this i.e the local council or is it something we will have to put up with, the vans are making our road an eyesore

Ring the council - neighbourhood services department and see what they say.
if its diesel then id call the police and advise them

we once stopped a lorry and told the driver he was spilling diesel at every corner he went round. He didnt seem bothered and drove off. next car we passed was police so we advised them and off they went after him. That stuff is lethal on roads

Oh I got all excited then, in recent posts over there >> the title reads "Ice Cream dropping Huge Amounts of...." I was expecting it to say the road was awash with cornettos and such like.
oil & diesel are extremely dangerous on the road, as bad as ice..highways agency wouldsnt be tro impressed
If the spillage you see is liable to constitute a hazard to motorists it's your duty to inform the police, who will inspect, and, if they deem it advisable, they will erect 'slippery road' signs and call out the fire service to wash it down and/or spread sand on the area.
