can you use the smaller potatos fgrom this years crop as seed for next year ?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.To add to the previous good advice... really small potatoes may not have developed any "eyes". It's important that seed potatoes have at least one, preferably more, eyes.
Additionally when storing, make sure they're stored in a cool, dark place. The colder (but not freezing) the better. Lare potato warehouses around here (western U.S.) keep their underground storage areas at about 35 degrees (F) year round...

It is definitly not true that Scotland is free from blight as my potatoes suffer greatly from it and blight is caused by growing conditions rather than coming via the seed potatoes. Potatoes that have blight will not store till next year as they will rot. Saving your own seed potatoes can be worth trying but they will not be guaranteed free from disease.
