Toilet seat fixtures

Is it possible to get new metal fixings from Wick`s, B&Q`s, etc, as the seat is ok and I don`t want to buy another one?

Yes you can get a pair of replacement bolts, nuts and washers at both Wickes and B&Q.

sometimes a wingnut can do the job if the bolt is still ok

If it's hinges you are after they also do them ... I would'nt recommend replacing either though.
The thermo plastic seats that Wickes do are around £24 . The fixings are stainless steel and are also pretty strong. Having fitted loads of them I have never gone back to one that has failed yet.
I always replace the whole seat and never ever repair them.

cheaper still maybe pick up one thats been bought new but unused at a boot sale and canibalise the fittings it will prob be cheaper than b&q for seperate fittings

I purchased a set of new fixings from B&Q a few weeks ago, but the seat is already becoming wobbly again as I do not think the hinges are as strong as the originals.

I would go with alavhalfs advice and buy a new seat which comes with the fixings.

36sreak36..have you checked the `poll screw` under the disc? as these tend to get loose if a few heavywieghts have been wriggling around on it. I still intend to do my old seat up as we`ve been close for so long to-gether, and have got quite attached to the comfort whilst reading `The Sun` in the morning. lol

I have used these "Toilet Seat Hinges For Celmac Toilet Seat" http://www.diy.com/na...c-Toilet-Seat-9270913 They are a bit of a fiddle to install, which I wouldn't have minded doing just once. However our toilet is in the corner of the room and so a slight sideways pressure is exerted on the fixtures when people is down. The result is that these fixtures have come apart several times during the year I have have used them. If your seat is in the corner of the room don't get these.

Further to my previous post. I found some fixtures on Ebay that seem to have fixed my problem. They were advertised as "NON SLIP L shape / shaped toilet seat hinge fittings. Fix loose seats for good". They were cheaper than the badly designed plastic ones at B&Q. They are metal so I think they will cope with the lateral pressure much better. They fitted my 'Celmac' style seat perfectly - although measure the holes in your seat because the fixtures come in different diameters. They came with a bolt fitter which was much easier than trying to use a wrench under the toilet. They seemed well machined and the parts fitted well. Thumbs up from me.
