Turpintine Substitute

Hi Out There,

I want to do a bit of "fix up" painting on a garden bench using oil based paint, but I have almost run out of turpinetine and don't have enough to clean my brush. I can't get to the paint shop until tomorrow.
Is there anything else I could use until tomorrow?

Stand the brush with the bristles submerged in a jar or other container of water. The paint won't dry, and you can shake the water off and clean the brush any time in the next few days.

Wrap the brush in cling film and it will keep til you get white spirit or brush cleaner tomorrow.

If you really want your brush cleaned, you could get away with mashing it around in (almost) neat washing up liquid then rinsing it off with warm water.

Whilst you`re at it, I have just sanded down to the wood a nice wooden toilet seat that now needs painting................eh? ...No?....didn`t think so. .....back to the shed then.
