I've just bought a new electric toothbrush and, like so many objects, the package it comes in is a strong plastic box that is sealed without any easy way to open it. I've had to attack it with a penknife and even then it takes a lot of effort and ripping of the plastic and cardboard inside.

Is there a technique for opening such packaging easily, something that I've missed? I can't imagine how an older frailer person might manage.

Some but not all split apart, they are a bl**dy nuisance when they dont.
Yes, they are an absolute pain. When I bought mine it was also boxed in the same package as you say, and it took me ages trying to open it. Surely, there gots to be a more consumer friendly package?

Is the plastic they use biodegradable or something? I can't think of any good reason why it has to be so unyielding.
I agree bibblebub.
I took an industrial pair of scissors to mine and still managed to cut my thumb.
I cannot believe it,s really that neccesary to make them so difficult to open.
I think its dangerous, really sharp sides when you cut them with scissors, infact, i broke my last pair of scissors on one of those stupid types of packaging.

On the same theme- seen how some childrens toys are packaged? My daughter's Barbie doll took about an hour to get out of its box- her hair (Barbies, not daughters) was even sewn onto the cardboard!

Usually use heavy-duty kitchen scissors right round the edge after donning protective gloves - but edges are still sharp and can cut fingers.
