nicotine removal

I have just been given a ipod docking station which is white but on the top it is yellow from which I presume is nicotine as the previous owner is a smoker, is there any way of removing the stain its a plastic material?

no i've tried that ummmm its not coming off, will give the sugar soap and bleach a try though

The trouble is that such discolouring tends to penetrate the surface on plastics. If it's fairly recent, you might be OK. Cif works well to remove surface dirt on plastics. Apply with a damp cloth. Keep rubbing, and It will end up polishing the surface. Try it first on a small inconspicuous area.

try rubbing whitening tooth paste on it leave overnight then rinse off with a damp cloth with hot water

Permanent stains from cigarettes/nicotine .. on plastic are notoriously difficult to remove .. if not impossible.

I agree with albags,, but try Cif on a cloth it might shift some of it.

Yes AlBags you were right tried all the suggestions and it wont shift the nicotine, will have to treat myself to a new one pity though as it has a brilliant sound, but cant stand to see the yellowing.

Well .. I do a bit of distressing .. interior design, etc. Sometimes I paint light switches. They too are hard white plastic .. but paint ok .. but you need some acrylic spray. I get this mixed at my local car paint place .. and put into aerosols. However, you mights get some at a local interior paint specialists .. or your local car paint place will sell you a can (this method's dear tho)
