We have an old house with an outside tap for the garden.
Unfortunately, we cannot seem to get a tap connector to fit on to it.
The tap has a thread, but any of the connectors we have tried do not seem to engage with the thread , so don't attach.
We used to have one that worked , but it broke off.(Probably due to old age).
The tap looks perfectly normal , if old, and should fit a half inch connector.
sensible answer is change the tap...
quick answer is find a larger tap connecter fitting and put it over the whole thing thread and all as if it was going on a sink tap...
Just thought I'd mention that my husband fitted a piece of copper piping to the existing one outside & fixed two taps next to each other - like a T shape. One tap for the hose to be permanantly fixed to & the othe for filling up the watering can, etc.
Thanks Doc - yeah, it used to be such a pain having to remove the garden hose spray/head to fill up the watering can, etc., so it's nice to have a 'free' tap for all those other little jobs in the garden.
You're always putting good ideas on here too. Hope you & yours are well. ♥
You can get muilt 2/3/4 way hose lock connectors i.e. they have like 3 taps instead of 1, if ladyalex needs a 1/2inch adapter like doc says they could get this type?
Thanks for all your answers, folks.
I'll have a good look at them all .
I am not much good with technology which is why it has taken me so long to get back to you. Still struggling with photobucket.
I've had a look at all of your suggestions and suspect that either we'll have to try the connector with the clip-tightener or get a new tap fitted.
The problem is that any screw on connectors that we have tried do not engage the thread, so do not screw on.
The tap must be 50 years old at least, if that is relevant.
