cleaning pan supports on gas hob

can anyone help?it seems impossible to clean the cast iron pan supports on my gas hob,must have tried every product on the market but am left with white stains and marks.even went to expense of replacing them but new ones now just as unsightly!

They are hard to clean. I have not found any method that is better than the others. Best is to clean them often.

Clean them and then apply stove/grate blacking
