Who has one of these? Do you recommend them? What's the basic difference between the older version and new 3G one? Are any other book readers worth considering? Do you have to have a Kindle to download from Amazon, or can use download to any book reader?

As mentioned above because its only in black and white its just like when they brought in a black and white TV. It wasn't until theybrought in colour TV that it seemed worth watching. The same with Kindle, just have a bit of patience and the colour version will be in the shops for Xmas.

Why would you want colour?
The whole point of e-ink is it is very relaxing to read for hours, no glare, can be read in very bright sunlight and doesn't drain the battery.
Books without illustrations are black and white for a reason - less eye strain.
