How to cap a old hot feed from washing machine?

Recently replacing my washing machine the hot feed cut off handle sheared off half open, I attempted capping the pipe as hot feed not required but modern machines only run on 15mm and 22mm according to wickes helper monkeys. As 15mm is too small and 22mm is too large can I use ptfe tape to make the thread meet on 22mm compression cap?? This hot feed is on main hot feed to sink and will have to hold against standard pressure.

Any helpful hints??

Yep ... the OP mentions a ''22mm compression cap'', so I guessed they have one but it's a bit loose.

a 22mm olive will tighten on 3/4'' copper with a good 'spannering', lol

are you trying to cap something like this

Even "old school" plumbers keep a load of these in their toolboxes these days. Important to smooth the end of the copper pipe as Trim says, or it'll rip the sealing ring ................. just push on............ no tools :o)
