Occasionally in cold weather, a considerate train driver might turn the feature back on so that where people are not getting on and off the train, the carriage doesn't get cold by the doors opening.
Yep, they did work on the Central line, but apparently London Underground turned them off, due to the H&S reason that by pressing the close button a passenger could shut another in the door.
Although the other lines dont have close buttons, it was deemed that they all either all work, or all not, so not it is...
Which is very frustrating when im freezing my **** of at Hanger Lane!
