What about inventing a 'phone jammer' so people can't use their mobiles when driving, as we've had quite a few near misses with these idiots?
But, as people have pointed out the amount of salt you'd need to carry to progress your journey would be astronomical. If it's just salt to get you out of a drift then as soon as your drift melts then you're into the next one but even then you'd be carrying hundred-weights of salt. I don't think this is a winner.
Incidentally it's not a mixture of salt and grit, it's purely rock salt that's spread on the roads.
