I did some shopping in Aldi last Thursday. When i checked my receipt the other day, it shows they have put through two bars of chocolate instead of one, scanning twice, next to each other on the receipt. Can they check their mistake on camera in case they wont give me their money back. How does their system work? Im reluctant to go back without me being able to prove it. ive seen how funny they can be when people return things for example.

How much was the chocolate? Would it really be worth the hassle?
Our Aldi would say sorry, you should have checked it when you were still in the shop.
I doubt if they would do anything now. our Aldi staff are very strange, they act like the Gestapo, almost ordering people to be quick at the check out and
" don't pack your bags here, do it over there" etc. I hate going in there, but the other half thinks that the prices of some items are good, especially as netto
( really cheap) have been swallowed bo Asda.
Aldi chocolate. Need you ask if it's worth the hassle? Noooooooooooo.
excuse this nextqueen, but had your op yet, postdog?
The staff in our Aldi are brilliant - how they don't throttle the ditherers I don't know. (I don't eat chocolate but the kids love the stuff from Aldi.)
If it makes you feel better write to them including a copy of your receipt. Tell them that you can't be bothered going all the way back for one choc bar but they might like to know that one of their staff made a mistake.

Any reputable business would take this as a positive comment and send you at least a small voucher. The teller obviously needs a reminder to heed the beeper.

Legally it is a case of 'he said, she said', but saying that you should have checked your ticked is no excuse for overcharging.

Cant they use their cameras though to check?
Are you really that bothered that you would ask them to check their CCTV over a bar of chocolate? I realise there is a principal but a bar of chocolate?
Over a bar of chocolate!!! Move on dear, life is too short lol.
To be fair, their customers service is not brill. Thing 1 got her fingers stuck in an unlocked cupboard (ok, they shouldn't have been in there) but they couldn't care less. I rang head office and they said they would make sure the cupboards were locked in future and they still aren't (about two years later). Not that it excuses anything, but the staff seem to be paid bonuses on store turnover/staff costs so the staff are motivated to work their butts off with customer service suffering.
That chocolate stuff at Aldi's is great!
Its certainly worth popping back, and no doubt they will just refund you for the sake of good relations. But they might wonder why you didn't go back sooner and cannot prove you haven't eaten it in the meantime, its really not worth asking them to look at cameras for such a low value item.

you've nothing to lose by trying.
Personally I could not be bothered, but there again I'm not having to watch every penny. No, no one is going to spend the time looking through video for whether you had one or two bars, even if the video exists. It would cost more than the bar was worth. If that important to you then complain politely and see. You never know what the manager will decide to do.
If you can be bothered then go and ask - now't to loose. Our Aldi are very good, when ever I've had to take anything back they've exchanged/refunded without quibble.

i went back this morning and they are going to check the cameras, though they said i should have gone back on the day, cant see why that matters though? yes, im definitely counting the pennies, hence why i food shop. Doesnt matter whether its a bar or chocolate or not, they shouldnt be putting things through twice. Can they really look back at last Thursdays CCTV though, im amazed if they can?
Because its easier to check through a tape from that day than it is to go back through several days worth.

To be blunt im stunned that a) you're going to this much trouble over a chocolate bar (surely can't be above a pound at the best?) b) if it's that important you've left it til now to query it and c) once they'd picked their jaw from the floor they just didn't give you the money back- surely it's not even worth faffing about to them?

Good luck....I guess.
most stores would have at least a weeks worth of cctv kept, possibly more now that its all held digitally rather than tape.

But unless the cameras are trained onto the till so closely then i cant see how they will be able to see very clearly.

they will surely see me shopping in the aisle first picking up only one bar not two. they shouldnt overcharge fullstop! i only checked my receipt at the weekend. the chocolate was a pack of bars, that could buy me a loaf and pint of milk these days. i await their call ;0
Have you sent them in a photo so they know which customer is you?
