Festival of Remembrance

OH is watching the Festival of Remembrance....Cliff Richard has just been on singing a jazzed up version of Ive Got You Under My Skin, didnt think it was realy appropriate. Dont think Queenie did either by the look on her face!

What's happened to our usual festival of remembrance. Cliff Richard Jo mckelric. Beginning to sound like x factor. Where are all the marching bands.

Have just come on this site to see if anybody else thought that Cliff Richard's performance was totally inappropriate last night. So glad to see I wasn't the only one! I don't normally dislike him but thought his dance moves looked ridiculous and what was the ending all about? It was just embarrassing.

Oh I thought it was only me. !!! Jumping on the Bandwagon because of his new CD.Cant stand him and using it at a Festival of Remembrance was the pits. Prince Phillips face was a treat to watch and no way was he going to clap. Alfie Boe now that is a different story. Talented man and a nice modest man too.

Cliff Richard is well past his sell by date. Didn't see him last night though (thank goodness!)

I must agree - as an all time Cliff fan I can honestly say I didn't like him singing swing numbers, doesn't suit his voice at all, maybe he is trying to copy Rod Stewart. The song just wasn't appropriate to the occasion either. I didn't really enjoy any of the songs by Cliff, Alfie Boe (who is wonderful) or Katherine Jenkins. The whole festival this year was mournful and quite boring, as Wendilla says where was the pomp and ceremony and pride, we usually have marching bands...... I, and my 87 year old Mum found it a bit of a turn off, I bet the Royal Family did too - quite embarrassing really. The best part for me were the children presenting flowers, the sweet little 6 year old girl who said her little speech so clearly, bless her, I was almost moved to tears. We kept getting shots of the wonderful Vera Lynn sitting there singing in the national anthem etc so its obvious she still sings, even in her 90s, I'm sure everyone would have appreciated a song from war days by her.

We had to smile at Prince Philip's face too - as patsy said he refused to clap, and looked so bored with it all, I actually felt sorry for the Royals having to endure it. Its the same as the Royal Variety Performance, they have to attend but some of the acts are so inappropriate, its embarrassing!

I think he is awful, and having sat through the programme wonder why the Royal British Legion/organisers keep putting people on who look as though they are promoting their latest record. I have been to the Albert Hall for the Remembrance service in the past, and felt exactly the same way for parts of the service. It lost it's solemnity, and i wonder if they think they need to attract a new, perhaps younger audience.
