We have had an upgrade to the new digital tv service, carried out by the local council. It's a borough wide initiative, ready for 2012 switchover. However since the upgrade was installed, first the picture breaks up, so have to assume that is the signal strength. Secondly we now can't record from from TV to the dvd player, but you can play films. The message box on TV screen says no signal. so apart from get on the council about this, is there anything i need to do. Do you have to retune the dvd player, as wouldn't have a clue how that works. I have seen others on here say the same i think?
Sounds like Ellipsis has hit the nail on the head. If you are connecting straight from the socket on the wall to the TV, then the DVD recorder has no aerial!. Connection should go from wall to DVD record aerial in, with a second cable from DVD aerial out, to TV aerial in.
Em - I fully sympathise with you - this stupid digital switchover has done nothing but cause worry, confusion and expense to us oldies ......... Our area is now switched over but we cannot record programmes properly anymore (OH does but its too complicated for me to use, theres no instant record now) We cannot afford to replace our video recorder with a digital one. We still get the picture freezing up at times - someone says we probably need a new digital aerial ....but don't even go there! GRRRR!!
ann, worked fine before they came to do the upgrade, and i did have sense to ask if this would affect dvd and the answer was no. So trusting what you are told, then have to now contact them, and seeing how this has been two years in the making, their problems not ours, then can see this being like this till the moon turns to cheese.
