How to block phone calls
8 Answers
I am on the sky telephone service and today I have started getting "no-one!" phone calls. When I answer I just get a peeping sound, when I try to dial it, it sounds like a phone has been cut off. The number is 01206222450, I have had this before but today it started at 5.50 and is now hourly. Please help.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Go into sky.com----help and support---you can block numbers, but it costs £3-£4 a month. Seems a lot to pay though just to block one number, what happens if you don't answer this number(does it show on your phone) and then cuts in to your answer phone? I have tried looking up this number but can't get any details of who or what it is. Only know it is Colchester based.
While it's a Colchester code, the calls almost certainly aren't coming from Colchester.
I've just tried the number (from a BT landline) and the number is reported as 'not recognised'. That suggests that it's actually from an overseas call centre which is using technology to trick the caller ID system into sending you a false number.
The 'peeping sound' suggests that it's actually a fax service, which is waiting for your combined phone & fax machine to recognise it as such, before sending you an unsolicited fax. (The fact that you've not actually got a fax machine is irrelevant. Somehow or other your number has been entered onto a fax database).
Regrettably I doubt that there's anything that you can do about it without the direct cooperation of your phone provider but, as has been pointed out, Sky charge for call blocking.
