Sorry, meant to add - How do I go about stopping it!!???
Was going to make a flippant response. Thought I'd read "toilet makes cringing noise after flushing". Hope someone can help you.

Sorry part 2 - it should say GRINDING NOISE!!! Not having much luck with this post am I!!!

LOL Maggie Bee (the smell is even worse)
Is your toilet connected to a macerator?
is this recent ? frozen or part frozen pipes/tanks can cause all sorts of wierd noises..
