HAND HELD VACUUM CLEANERS

I know this should be on shopping but you do get more posters here - anybody tell me of a powerful suction hand held vacuum cleaner and lightweight. Some of you will say Dyson but I actually threw out a Dyson vacuum cleaner after a year onto a skip because of the weight of it. Thanks for any answers. It is for a birthday present.

yes but its a Dyson hand held pet hair one, well worth paying the extra for the pet one, my dog moults twice a year and I would not be without it, xmas time the needles from the xmas tree crumbs from the table, kitchen floor all done in seconds, we have the wall mount in the kitchen and leave on permanent charge, the car upholstery after the dogs been in the car gone in minutes.If there was a fire I would go back for it ! we no longer use the upright vacuum cleaner just this small cordless one they are not cheap but worth it.

What's wrong with the hose on an upright vacuum cleaner?

hopkirk the suction just isnt there, I dont think you do much hoovering ?

Dirt Devil - the little handheld one with the rotary brush, I've tried others over the years but none of them touch this for doing the stairs.

I do plenty Dee Sa, and our Dyson has loads of suction on the hose.

We bought the Dyson pet hair one about three weeks ago and were really pleased with it but now find it is constantly cutting out, even when fully charged. Any ideas, or should we take it back?

Masma - could you tell me more re the dirt devil. Is it corded. The more I peruse I do think the corded one is the best cos you can hoover for as long as you like.

Sorry Connemmara I've only just seen your post - it has a very long lead so easily does the stairs. My stairs get in a right state with people and dogs going up and down all the time and it's the only one to really touch them.
