Things have disappeared...........

When I went on holiday for a fortnight recently, I unplugged the laptop and the wireless router.

Now, when I go on to internet banking, for example, I have to keep inputting my security number, which used to appear every time I logged on to my bank account. I click the box which says 'please remember me on this computer' but everytime I logon to the bank account, I have to put the number in again.
What has happened?

I suppose it's more secure that way factor but I want to know why I have to do it now, when I didn't have to do it previously.
Is it something to do with 'cookies'? (She says, not knowing what she's on about!)

I don't know. I have the same with Answerbank- I always have to sign in now even though I have ticked the box to stay signed in. I think the change coincided with changing my browser to Chrome

I have the same problem with Facebook. It automatically tries to log in to my cousins account. He's changed his password though so I can't even abuse the situation :-)

How lazy have we got? Remember dial up?

In chrome one setting to do with this is whether or not cookies get deleted when you exit the browser but I don't know what the default setting is - to check it:-

-click on the spanner in the top right corner

-find and click on settings near the bottom of the menu

-click on Show Advanced Settings at the bottom of the screen

-the first new section shown is Privacy so click on the Content Settings button in that

-the first section of those settings is to do with cookies so check that it is set to allow local data to be set rather than only keeping it only until you quit the browser

No, I'm sure you're not. I just remember the days we didn't have the option to save password.

I liken it to my cars. I remember one time I had to open each door individually. Then it was central locking. Then remote locking. I hired a car years back, a very basic polo, I stared at the keys wondering where the fob was.

If bibblebub's suggestion doesn't work, I have now got to find security numbers and passwords which are secreted somewhere in numerous articles of stationery!

They could be anywhere.

The 'spanner' too has disappeared. It's now 3 horizontal lines - whatever that may be called!

So it has - I've just updated Chrome and found that too. Fortunately it seems to only be superficial.
