i have never ever ordered anything on line as I'm scared of making a cock up and getting it all wrong.

Can anyone tell me how to do it, including the linking up to paypal please.

Please keep it very simple lol

I'd set up your PayPal account first - go to www.paypal.com and follow their very straightforward instructions. You need to do that first because to make sure it's you, they deposit a few pence in your bank account - which you have to acknowledge before they will let you do any proper transactions, and I think that can take a couple of days.

Once you've done that, and you want to buy off Amazon (or indeed any site e.g. eBay which takes PayPal) you are all set up, all you need to do is tick the PayPal box on the payment page.

If there isn't enough in your PayPal account for what you want to buy, all they do is debit your bank account instead - but it always shows as PayPal on your statement so you know what it is - and more importantly, you never have to give your bank details to people you're buying from.

Good luck!
If you want to buy from Amazon, you don't need a paypal account. This would just introduce another level of complication and expense. You can buy from Amazon using your Credit or Debit card.
That's perfectly true, rojash - but if you use PayPal, Amazon never gets to know your account details.
True boxy but I believe there has been far more fraudulent activity with people's paypal accounts than there has on Amazon. Pusskin I'm not sure you even have to set up an account with Amazon (although it's much easier if you use them regularly). You just enter your card details and address at paying time.

Thank you so much for replies Abers, much appreciated.
i feel that now is the time to get it all sorted as I feel very left out never ordering on line, and it can save me from hunting round the shops for pressies etc.
My neighbour is popping in on thurs to hope to get me started, as i dont feel confident to do it myself (how sad is that)
many thanks again , and will post a quickie and let you know if its hopefully all gone well x lol

it is mainly the card details and stuff that has me worried, so here we go and have to pull my socks up x
I have bought Amazon gift cards from the shops.
Then when you purchase something it just prompts you to put the number in off the card (which you scratch off),very straightforward.

Thank you too kitty, fingers crossed i can order things myself soon x
"but if you use PayPal, Amazon never gets to know your account details."

What a silly remark. If you use Amazon, then PayPal never gets to know your details.
I have never had a problem in any way with amazon. However when you first start make sure you click on free delivery when you come to that page or you end up paying for first class. Also dont do the prime trial as if you forget to cancel it like my son did you end up with a bill for about £20 a month, though they did refund him Also if problems they will phone you . Once you have registered your card the details are stored and you dont need to do all the card number entering again.
When you order on Amazon not only can you see the order details online at any time but you'll also be sent an email confirming your order and you have the option of cancelling the order while it's still being processed (don't know how long that option lasts because I haven't wanted to do that yet).
It's not silly at all, rojash. I like to use a payment system where I don't have to enter my card details on the seller site every time.
Me too Boxtops, One click & its yours.
M&S are brilliant to use & you can get anything there.
Good Luck Pusskins.

"I like to use a payment system where I don't have to enter my card details on the seller site every time"

Hiya Abers, just a quick update.
have sorted out Paypal, and will wait till Monday for the bank to clear it etc.
have ordered 3 audio tapes on Amazon for now, and given my bank details and they will be sent out on Monday!
Blimey, cant believe i have set the ball rolling with the help from my neighbour, bless her. No stopping me now. I'm really determined to get on this Ebay site and start ordering and selling !!! (I hope pigs can fly) lol
pusskin well done gal go for it.

WR.
I buy and sell on Amazon. They have my credit card details and there has never been a problem. They also have my bank details and credit me twice a month with any earnings. Paypal becomes a necessity to deal with ebay however.
Question Author
haha i didnt know you could buy and sell on Amazon, thought it was only Ebay!!!
See --thats how much i know!
I find it hard every year racing round the shops finding pressies for G/kids etc.
This is going to open up a new little world for me I can tell you.
Feel like a little kid with a new hobby!!! ( I can hear you laughing) x
Pusskin, selling on Amazon is a doddle. I have sold loads of books and occasionally other things, though not ever section is open to everyone selling. For books no need to take a photo even. Just click on a book you have and want to sell (you can search by title or ISBN number) and on top right hand side it says do you want to sell yours here. Then click yes and enter condition and price (it will show you other prices and I usually go as low as possible).
Bear in mind postage you get is limited to (I think) about 2.80 so allow for that when you set a price for heavy books.
