Help! Sky Hd + Remote Not Working
11 Answers
Please help. Have just installed a new sky hd+ box for freeview in Ibiza, and the new remote control flashes a red light but doesn't control the sky box (and I want to record on it tomorrow!) I do not want it to control the tv, just to work like my old sky box does. The normal sky remote controls the new box fine but no record on it. Please? I have changed the batteries, the tv is old but works fine with other sky boxes.

If the box is receiving, as it seems to be by your test with the other remote, you probably just need to reset the remote. Either on the Sky help pages or just Googling throws up many suggestions for solutions.
Once you get the Sky remote talking to the box, you'll then need to find the code to get it to talk to your tv. There is a guide for how to do this on the Sky site.
Also, so you don't miss your programmes in the meantime, use the buttons on the Sky box to press 'record'.

if it's the sky remote that is not controlling the Sky Box, it has nothing to do with the tv - the tv is just a means for displaying the picture in this case.
Have you got any buttons on your Sky box? There is usually one with an 'R' in it or just a red circle.
Not knowing the exact spec, it's tricky to help. Hence that is why I said to Google, there are loads of people with similar issues and therefore helpful solutions. Assuming your remote and Sky box are indeed functioning, it should just be a matter of getting them to talk to each other which will either mean entering a code or performing some sort of reset on the remote (or repeatedly turning things off and on again and hoping).

I'm beginning to think this is not the box that I thought it was, maybe it is just a common or garden Sky. Cant see why I would have to have a sky subscription just to record freewiew. I have a sky subscription on another box. No red buttons anywhere on the box so guess it's not a recordable box. Will google sky boxes now and see what mine looks like.
Many thanks anyway. That's ruined my xmas!

The SKY+ (i.e. recording part) is a subscription package, even if you do have a sky+ box you can not record anything (including freeview) using that box without the subscription.
If you buy a freeview+ box then of course you can record freeview.
