how secure is it for buying something from? has anyone been ripped off?

I've been using ebay now for 3 years & i have never once been ripped of by someone.Although in saying that i know it does happen sometimes.If i'm intrested in buying something from a seller i'll check their feedback rating that will tell me if they are a good or bad seller.

I was addicted to ebay until i found this site. So i am spending a lot less money now. There are people who buy job lots and sell them on eaby at mark up prices. Their products are usually crap. So i usually avoid power sellers. They are making a profit and are not private sellers who are getting rid of their stuff lying around at home.

I have bought a lot and only had 1 item not upto scratch, I emailed the guy got no answer so left him very bad feedback. I have bought from powersellers and been happy to have new products at low price's, I bought myself a car I am delighted with from private also a folding caravan, yes I'm addicted to low price bargains saved more money than Iwill ever lose.

Check the sellers feedback,usually(but not always) a good indicator.

Always pay by Pay~Pal,as there is more refund/query/problem cover.Paying by cheque,may seem OK,but you get none of the benefits of Pay~Pal that way.

If the Postage is not indicated in the listing,check with the seller BEFORE bidding,some sellers "make up" the price ot the item with excessive postage.

If the Item seems "too good to be true" it is!

Although I have bought a rather large item from the US I would tend to avoid foreign sellers - particularly those referring to Western Union payments.  I never pay by Paypal as I think it's a big con, so I avoid paypal only sellers as well.  Also, once a zero feedback bidder has entered the foray I stop bidding on an item, as I believe it would be very easy for the seller to increase the cost by setting up another fake ebay account and thus a fake bid.  Always check and recheck the postage cost which is added on to the final bid.  Never ever bid more than you would want to pay.

You just need to examine things carefully and use common sense.

It's a 1 day listing for a really nice MP3 player. It's 1 day because the "seller" wants to be in & out with your cash as quick as possible (before ebay catch on). The item is located in Beijing, Ireland which is nice when the sun shines! The text describes an iPod when the item clearly isn't one. If you examine the "seller's" 100% feedback and the items "bought" to get this rating, you'll discover they're for email recipies, desktop wallpaper photos of models for a PC, photos of socks and frequently just a load of question marks! All this stuff cost the seller a hell of a lot less than he's going to con the gullible person (who thinks they're going to get a �250 MP3 player for �30) out of.

As has been said before, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. And wear sunscreen, the two bits of best advice.

Ooops, gone already! Do a search for iriver h340 and if there's some at around �50 on a 1 day listing, they're the too good to be true ones. There's also loads of people in China desperately looking to offload their iPods. Hmmmmmm.

Been using Ebay for over 2 years now and never once been ripped off. I always check a persons feedback before i buy from them, the one thing they cant fake is how they have treated past buyers sellers, they leave reviews so if they have good reviews go ahead and buy.

Ebay is very very addictive and I have ended up buying stuff i will never ever use lol but its all fun!!

I have been buying and selling on eBay for four years. I have been involved in over 5000 transactions during that time and I have never ripped anyone off (honest LOL) and have never been scammed by anyone else.

Check feedback of sellers and buyers. If you have any doubts at all - don't buy - or if selling don't be afraid to cancel bids of dubious buyers.
