Hi,
I've just checked my photocard and note it expires very soon, as the photo needs to be renewed.

I have got the D1 form ready to fill out but it is not clear whether i have to ask a professional person to sign the back of the photo.

Any ideas?

If you have a recently renewed valid passport it is posible to apply online and they electronically use the same photo, that is how I renewed mine last year.
Not if you are renewing an existing photo, and your appearance hasn't changed dramatically.

Incidentally, if you have renewed your passport in the last five years, they can use that and you can do it all online.
If you've renewed your passport within the past 5 years you don't need a new photo anyway. (You can renew your driving licence online and your passport photo will be used.).

Otherwise no signature is required on the back of the photo.

I have not renewed my passport within the last 5 years, so they cannot use that photo.
