Why Has Ebay Changed...when It Has Not

Had to do a full re install on our laptop-but that's another story.As I am incapable of having anything to do with files,I got our son to save bookmarks,history,add on's etc then re install them from USB.
I don't know if that had anything to do with this problem,but when I went on eBay,there was another suggestion type sidebar and it was calling OH by his actual name,not eBay name.
We don't like this.
Can anything be done to get eBay back to 'normal'
I have tried uninstalling Firefox and re installing,but eBay was just the same.I did however not remove bookmarks and history as I knew what a pain in the bum it was for my son to do
I am blaming firefox cos when I tried Explorer,eBay was back to normal.
Any ideas?
Any simple terms for me to understand would be great.

That sounds like ebay sidebar which is an add on.
If you are using Firefox have a look in the add ons and disable it.

Whilst on the subject of Ebay, I have lost the end of auction alerts - any ideas please?

It does sound like the eBay side bar - I'm on IE9 and although they have fiddled with the layout (which I don't like) it still only calls me by my eBay name.

Sorry not able to help but only ask to you some questions.

How did your son go about saving bookmarks, history, add-ons etc?

Did he save all of your personal files etc?

What did he save them to, and did it all take a considerable amount of memory?

Hello AOG,
He was able to save history and bookmarks to USB,He didnt save any personal files.It seemed easy enough to him,and didnt take too long(about 3/4 hr to figure out how to do it,and next to no time to save)
If you want further details I can ask him to post here?
It all fitted on a 16gb USB pen,but as no personal files I should think so.
(bribe him with biscuits and wonders can happen! LOL)

As for the other issue,we are just going to have to live with it,think maybe we just never noticed the sidebar before,and son says his does the same on the welcome page.Odd
